In partnership with Robert Cole, Lisa Cole was a co-founder of The Ballet Academy and contributed nine years to developing the technique, costuming and choreography that is the modern dance base in the Central Ohio Youth Ballet. Ms. Cole drew upon her training as a scholarship student with Merce Cunningham and her intensive work as a graduate student with Cunningham dancers Louise Burns, Ellen Cornfeld and Uki Okiyama to create her solidly technical and complex work. Her choreographic and teaching styles were also heavily infuenced by her years of study with Fred Strickler and her professional work with Stephanie Gilliland’s California based company, Groundwork. Her work has been commissioned by Denison University in her position as Visiting Artist and by the OSUN Theater Department. For four years, her work was accepted into the Northeast Ohio Dance Associations showcase. In 2000 and 2002, her work was accepted into the Ohio Dance Young Artists Showcase presented at the Ohio Theater. Although her passion for dance never ceases, her work in recent years has taken her primarily into the pilates studio. She holds full certification from the Canadian-based Stott Pilates. Her degree, which she completed Phi Beta Kappa in Business Administration, has served her well in the numerous businesses she has created including photography, antiques and a fully equipped pilates studio. Lisa is pleased to be teaching pilates & conditioning class and modern classes for The Ballet Academy.
